Brad's Blog
Brad Webb - when he's not sitting behind the drums providing crazy jazz rhythms for Jamie on tour he's quietly taking note of everything going on behind the scenes and telling it to you here. These are Brad's tour tales...Hello everyone!
Hello everyone.
This is the first of my blogs from Jamie's month-long tour of America. I'll be serving a generous portion of gibberish with a side of drivel.
The first line of the American National Anthem refers to dawn's early light. I'm not a fan of it. Dawn, that is. Neither is anyone on the JC bandwagon. Having done our fair share of tours and promo trips in the last year, we have all become intimately acquainted with the face-stretching misery of hearing the alarm going off at 5am. The start of this journey was to be no different.
Each member of the band has his own way of negotiating the hideously early departures. Chris (bass/vocals/high-pitched cackler/ Jazz C3P0) likes to drink coffee and rub his face like he's trying to make fire. Rory (trumpet/flugelhorn/guitar/vocals/Cornish wit) is nearly always hooded, gurgling, and on a quest for orange juice. If you were to cut the man, he would bleed fruit juice. Tom's (sax/ keyboards/vocals/drums/Appalachian nose flute/assorted facial contortions) body language is not unlike that of a man standing with his face three inches from a stadium floodlight, and Jamie, who is normally afforded an extra 15 minutes in bed, often passes the time by making (well-founded) appraisals of my appearance.
"Look at Brad. That is the worst collection of cells I have ever seen."
The first week of the US tour has seen us eat 40 kilos of pastrami, play five sold out shows and drive 1400 kilometres. Huge thanks to the amazing crowds in New York, Philly, Boston and D.C. You made our week. No thanks at all can go to CBS, who woke us up at 5am to play on The Early Show. If you saw it, I was the collection of cells at the back, struggling with the light.

Atlanta Show
Submitted by ShariAltman on March 17, 2010 - 07:31Awesome show last Friday in Atlanta. My first time to see Jamie and gang live. Glad you guys got through Toronto security to play for us! I drove 5 hours from Winston-Salem, by myself (date bailed on me - his major loss, what an idiot!) and loved every minute. Only thing I missed was "You and me are gone" ... man that tune gets me up out of my seat every time I play it.. Just keep hittin' the repeat button and cranking up the volume...
Thanks for sharing yourselves with us. My life is enriched.

Nashville Loves its Music and That Now Includes "Jamie"
Submitted by friarmac007 on March 15, 2010 - 13:01Brad, y'all did a great performance in Nashville. I heard Jamie three times in 2006 (Phoenix, Nashville and Birmingham (daughter and friends were the ones who threw undergarments on stage in Nashville and B'ham, and from Phoenix, I am the "keeper" of Jamie's Guiness can, and while his guys were great back then, y'all were, I thought, even better (just don't let Geoff or Sebastin (sic) know). I should have read your blog first because my write-up of the show could have included the names of everyone. Tell Rory he should have bit. Those '62 Jag's are nice, I have the reissue, having played the real thing in '63-64, and at 24-gauge, and all those switches, he'll be having fun, fun, fun in the USA. Thanks for an exception night. I hope we were lively enough for y'all.

You were all fabulous. I'm looking forward to future dates in Toronto! And Brad, I think your cells were put together quite nicely! :)
Peace and happiness.
