The board rules prohibit spam.

(Not this sort wink.gif )

I just wanted to say that if you want to sign up to this forum just to post links to your (adult) websites or sell things (pills, etc), you're wasting everyone's time, particularly yours. As soon as we see them (which is usually very soon), we will delete your links and close your topics. So don't bother, please?

There has been a lot more of this going on lately, I don't know why, but it really isn't what this forum is for. You may get away with plying your wares on other sites (although I find it hard to imagine where!) but not this one, ok?

While I'm at it, I'll also note that saying the same thing more than once (i.e. in several different parts of the forum) isn't necessary (this goes for everyone), those topics too will be closed and deleted.

We mods try our best to keep on top of things like this, for everyone's benefit, but believe it or not, we sometimes step away from our computers and don't always have time to read every thread on the forum laugh.gif so if you see something that you think is spam, please use the 'report' button (which will send a message to all the Pointless Mods) or just PM one of us. Your help is appreciated smile.gif

But at the same time, please try not to all bombard us with reports about the same thing. It won't make us react any faster (i.e. our PM boxes don't have a critical mass which sets off some kind of flashing light and forum emergency alarm laugh.gif).

And now for something completely different (well no, that's not true, it is related, but it's more amusing wink.gif)
Femke
How about people post a link to the post in question in this thread, so the mods can keep an eye on this thread? It saves their PM boxes being bombarded with reports.

I was thinking more that if someone reports a spam thread, they could post in it to say that they have, so the next person will see and won't need to.

But of course nobody has to, everyone's perfectly entitled to do it anonymously if they want as well, we'll manage. smile.gif

To be quite honest, this is not really an issue to be discussed here, so please refrain from making this topic into a discussion about spam.

but spam e-mails have nothing to do with spam on the forum.

I suppose as the internet gets bigger, the more spambots there's likely to be.

Aren't a lot of them just automatic anyway? As in, they'll send out different ones and no one has to be at a computer to do it? I just thought that it might be that way because (as I mentioned somewhere else) I was on an artist's official forum (not so high tech as this wink.gif ) and spambots started spamming and in the end, we had to abandon the forum because its completely overrun in every part of the board.

Maybe the mods could approve new forum members so spambots can't join up?

if we do this, we have to stop working, hahahahahahaha.

We're keeping an eye on new members, but we would like all of you to keep an eye open as well... we have lives wink.gif On PN you have to register and validate your e-mail in order to post, so as far as I'm aware it can't be done automatically.

There's probably some sad individual sitting at home clicking validate every two seconds dry.gif

We should have a special spam force - Spam Force to the rescue laugh.gif
sorry, got carried away!

Once these sad people start realising that the mods are here all the time, they'll probably go back to the little worlds and leave us alone! Well I hope!
