the trouble with you explaining things in German, is that a ) it doesn't help anyone whose first language isn't German, and b ) I have no idea whether it's correct or not![]()

The context of being 'in line' will affect the meaning, i.e. whether it's literal or figurative. Can you be more precise?
(as I have no idea what Karen said...) sideburns are what some men grow on the sides of their faces... here is a fairly extreme example!
Hello!
My name is Matilda Österberg, and I’m a 17-year-old from Sweden. I live in a small town called Nynäshamn, 60 km south of Stockholm, the Swedish capital. My mother’s name is Ulla and she’s 53 years old. She is the boss of the “psychiatry” in Nynäshamn. My father’s name is Jan, and he’s 49 years old. He works at “Nynas Refining”, an oil refinery in our town. I also have a younger brother, named Erik. He’s 14 years old, and he’s a real musical talent. He plays the guitar, and he has recently started to play the drums, which he loves. At the moment he’s saving money to buy a drum set. When I was seven years old, my parents got divorced. Erik and I live both with our mom and her fiancé, and with our dad and his new wife, a couple of weeks at a time. Our parents are still friends, and the joined custody has never been a problem.
I see myself as a very positive and outgoing person. I may be a little shy sometimes, but I loosen up after a while. I don’t have a best friend, but many really good friends, and I like to meet new people. I love to travel and see new places, and I’m really interested in languages. I want to be able to speak perfect English, and also be fluent in Spanish, which I study at school. I’ve just finished my first year at Nynäshamn’s Gymnasium, which I believe is comparable to high school in USA. The line I’m in concentrates on Social science, and we also study a lot of history, geography and languages. It’s a good all-round education, and I find most of my courses interesting. I finished with really good grades.
In my free time I play a lot of volleyball. I practise with my volleyball team two times a week, and I also get to practise two more times a week on school time, because I take a course called Special Athletics. During the Volleyball season we play matches almost every weekend, and in the summer we play a lot of beach volleyball for fun. This is my big passion, and an unrealistic dream of mine is to be a professional player, but I’m neither good nor tall enough to have a chance.
When I’m not training I hang out with my friends, watch movies, and listen to music. One of the best things with my town is that it’s located so near the capital. I often take the train to Stockholm with my friends to go shopping, or go to the movies, or just hang out at a café. Stockholm is a really nice town, which I could see myself moving to when I’m older. Another good thing about Nynäshamn is that we have a wonderful archipelago. In the summer we spend a lot time sunbathing on the round cliffs, and swimming in the warm water. You can find a lot of beautiful islands and bays just outside of town if you go by boat.
I’ve always been very interested in music, although I have no musical talent myself. I guess my brother got all of those genes. I have a very broad taste in music, but the last couple of years I’ve become more and more interested in Jazz. The very talented British artist Jamie Cullum introduced me to Jazz music, and now I want to hear more and more. I love the improvisation and playfulness in Jazz, which makes the same tune sound different every time.
Now I’ve told you about my life and my family, and I want to know about yours! What’s your family like? What do you do for fun in San Antonio? I’m really looking forward to meet you and get to know you! If you have any questions, or just want to contact me, please do so! Send me an e-mail at: nevermind__89@hotmail.com
Greetings from Sweden.
Matilda Österberg
Matilda:
Aw thanks Millan!
Don't want to get my hopes up though, then I'd be so sad If I don't get it!
