The man died as he lived, i'd have put a sad face smiley in but to be honest, you can only celebrate the life of this man that brought endangered species to the masses like no other. Sad, yes. A terrible waste of a mans life. But to use the words of the man.
....Strewth and Crikey !! What a life !!!
Heres to him,

and may God watch over his family and help them through this.

I can't believe he's died so young, but I guess you could say it was good whilst he lasted considering how many life endangering situations he encountered..

BEERWAH, Australia - Hundreds of employees at Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo wiped away tears as they drove out of the animal park today.
They had been shocked by the news that their boss, the man known as The Crocodile Hunter, was killed by a stingray during a dive on the Great Barrier Reef.
One volunteer worker says “I don’t know what the zoo will do without him.”
Small satellite transmission centers are up near the highway that runs in front of the zoo as T-V networks broadcast news from the site.
Bouquets of flowers have piled up. One card reads “Steve, from all God’s creatures thank you. Rest in peace.”
Dozens of cars and trucks honked their horns in tribute as they drove down the highway.

On the news here in the states.... they said that he didn't say ANYTHING... that he died pretty immediate. They have comfirned that they were recording at the time of his death and that it is up to his wife if the video is to be released. I personally, don't think that it should be shown. There isn't any reason that the public needs to see his last moments... we should remember him for how he was when he was alive!!

From the BBC...
Dead stingrays with their tails cut off have been found in Australia, sparking concern that fans of naturalist Steve Irwin may be avenging his death.
Mr Irwin, a TV personality known as the "Crocodile Hunter", was killed while diving in Queensland when a stingray's barb stabbed him in the chest.
Since then, 10 stingrays have been found mutilated on Queensland beaches.
Government officials said they were investigating the deaths and there could be prosecutions.
Two stingrays were found at a beach north of Brisbane with their tails cut off, while eight were found on another beach on Monday, The Australian reported.
Wayne Sumpton of the state fisheries department said it was not clear if the incidents were connected to Mr Irwin's death.
He said fishermen who inadvertently caught stingrays sometimes cut off their tails to avoid being stung, but such a practice was uncommon.

If it's true and people did this because of Irwin's death; then it's a shame. Steve Irwin loved animals and nature. If we could say to him what happened after his death, he would be furious!

I study media at uni and last week when this happened we spent the entire tutorial talking about it....like if the tape should be released or not....I personally believe any footage of Steve Irwins death should never be shown to the public....it's a tragic event, i found it hard enough to just watch the news and see pictures of him in teh newspaper without feeling like crying....
...actually my media class also brought this up...did anyone realise that on their msn lists people have been putting little turtles next to their names...its a tribute to Steve Irwin...i thought this was really nice...
....I find it hard to even say the word "Crikey!!!!" now without geeting depressed...I never used to be in the habit of saying this word untill i watched alot of Steve's shows on tv.....Steve Irwin will be sorely missed by us australians and people all over the world....
....there will be a memorial at Australia Zoo next week on wednesday i think....i read last night that 3000 free tickets are being distributed through ticktek in australia, his family say that its the most appropriate venue for a public memorial, which i totally agree with....using a huge footy stadium as was written early on by the media wouldn't be the same.
You were a true legend Steve Irwin and we will miss you greatly.

Steve Irwin's little girl won the hearts of a nation and gave her grieving family hope for the future when she starred at her father's memorial service. Eight-year-old Bindi Irwin told a worldwide television audience of hundreds of millions of people: "I have the best Daddy in the whole world and I will miss him every day." And she made it clear it's her ambition to follow in the footsteps of the Crocodile Hunter, declaring:"I don't want Daddy's passion to ever end.
"I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did."
More than 5,000 people filled the Crocoseum at Australia Zoo on Wednesday to farewell the TV naturalist, killed on September 4 by a stingray barb to the heart. The TV showman, 44, died on the Great Barrier Reef while gathering footage for Bindi's upcoming wildlife documentary series. It was his daughter who stood out from among a host of Hollywood stars, musicians, conservationists and politicians, as tributes poured in from around the world for Irwin.
As her distraught mother Terri and little brother Bob, two, looked on, Bindi strode to a stage in front of a photo of her father and confidently delivered a eulogy she had penned herself.
"My Daddy was my hero - he was always there for me when I needed him," she said, tracing the words on the paper with a finger. "He listened to me and taught me so many things but most of all he was fun. When I see a crocodile I will always think of him and I know that Daddy made this zoo so everyone could come and learn to love all the animals. Daddy made this place his whole life and now it's our turn to help Daddy."
The thousands of Irwin fans erupted into a standing ovation for the little girl and after the hour-long service, Bindi's grandfather Bob Irwin and her father's close friend, Wes Mannion, said her father would have been proud of her.
"He would have been going 'yeah, you little beauty darling'," said Mannion, Australia Zoo's director. Bob Irwin said Bindi could follow in her father's footsteps as a TV wildlife warrior. "I think she will be, yes," he said.
Those who attended the Crocoseum and hundreds of millions of TV viewers worldwide were urged by actor Russell Crowe to remember Steve Irwin in a joyful, not mournful, way. Many cried, but at times there was cheering and applause during the tightly choreographed service. Among the VIP guests was an empty seat which bore Irwin's favourite Australia Zoo hat. Next to it was a teary Terri, who sat with toddler son Bob on her lap, too upset to speak.
The event began and ended with videotaped messages from Irwin's friend Crowe, speaking from New York. "We have all lost a friend we have lost a champion and we are going to take some time to adjust to that," he said. Prime Minister John Howard paid tribute to a genuine and authentic Australian who loved his family and his country. "And as we share this celebration and we honour this life can I say to you Terri, and the rest of your family, there are 20 million pairs of Australian arms reaching out to embrace you this morning."
Bob Irwin senior choked back tears as he briefly thanked well-wishers for their letters and gifts on behalf of the family, including Steve's sisters Mandy and Joy. "Please don't grieve for Steve - he's at peace now," he said. "But I would like you to grieve for the animals - the animals have lost the best friend they ever had, and so have I."
Stars including Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Hugh Jackman, Kevin Costner and American talkshow host Larry King paid tribute in video presentations.
"Every kid was in love with the idea of being able to be him," Diaz said. Jackman said everyone should become a wildlife warrior like Irwin. "Whether it's for the wilderness, whether it's for the animals, his family, whether it's for just the planet, or just life in itself, Steve showed us that we can live like warriors, and we can make the world a better place," he said.
The crowd was shown amusing footage of Irwin falling out of boats, getting bitten by crocodiles and lizards, messing up his lines and being chased by cassowaries. They were also shown clips of his journey "from the outback to Hollywood" and footage of him speaking about the death of his mother Lyn in a road crash in 2000. Introducing footage of Irwin, producer John Stainton said his best mate was "a true, fair dinkum Aussie".
"Today I want to share with you the way he changed my life forever," he said. "From the time we first met we clicked. The khaki-clad wildlife warrior and the city slicker became the best of friends over 20 odd years, and they were odd." Australian country music star John Williamson sang True Blue, the Crocodile Hunter's favourite song, twice during the event, tweaking the lyrics for the finale. "True blue, is it me and you... is it Steve Irwin too?" Williamson sang, as Irwin's truck, packed with his surfboard, bedroll and equipment, was driven away by crocodile keeper Brian Coulter.
Nearby, yellow flowers laid on the ground spelt out "Crikey".

QUOTE
Bindi Irwin misses her Dad Steve more than ever as the family approaches its first Christmas without the Crocodile Hunter, but cherishes the memory of their last Christmas together.
Eight-year-old Bindi is busy making her own wildlife television series, but is still struggling to cope with the loss of her father Steve Irwin.
"Sometimes it's frustrating because I can really feel that he's here, but I can't see him," the News of the World quoted Bindi as saying.
"They say time makes things easier but no one tells you how you can miss someone even more every single day.
"Sometimes it's really sad and I have to cry a little bit but I really think, I really believe, he's just in another world.
"Sometimes I cry and cry but then I just think 'It's happened and you can't do anything about it, he's not hurt, he's in a great place'.
"He hated it when I cried.
"If my pet goldfish died, he cried with me, so I'm trying really hard not to make him really sad that I'm sad."
Bindi showed a brave face to the nation when she spoke glowingly of her father at his memorial service, and dismisses talk that she was trying too hard to be positive.
"He would be so happy that I'm happy," Bindi said.
"When I look back at all the memories, really that's what Daddy wanted the most for me.
"Some people might think, 'Oh my word she's happy, how can that be', but everyone has a choice of being happy or sad."
The first Christmas after a death in the family is difficult, but Bindi says she will remember the good times from their last Christmas at Beerwah on the Sunshine Coast.
"Santa left all the presents on top of our roof because our chimney was much too small for him to climb down it," Bindi said.
"So my Dad and I had to get a ladder and climb up the roof.
"It was just me and him - Mummy was thinking about it but then didn't want to, and (baby brother) Bob wanted to but he was a safety hazard.
"It was so nice up there. He gave me a big bicycle. It was really nice - it was the best Christmas.
"On Christmas Day I will be raising my orange juice to him I will be saying 'thank you very much and please have a happy Christmas too'."
