What was the big delay with the release date for The Wicker Man? I remember seeing a review on it ages ago, and I'm nearly sure someone was interviewed on Richard and Judy a while ago about it too huh.gif

**********

I watched the film She's the Man this morning ... I like Amanda Bynes so I enjoyed it and I thought it was quite funny. And the actors/actresses played good supporting characters too. But never mind all that ... the guys who played Duke and Justin were dreamy wub.gif

I saw The Break Up a week or so ago, not as funny as i thought it would be, but it was a very good script, and i don't think some moment were supposed to be funny anyway.

I've got another 'do not go and watch' to add to that one. I went to see The Wicker Man today, and both my friend and I left the cinema completely confused and thinking it was a rather crap movie. We've figured the complete plot after some debating but it's still a really really bad story. I think it possibly one of the worst films I've ever seen.

and I loved the old 70's version with Michael Caine in.......some films they should just leave alone, they are remaking so many old films lately.

I take it you realise the one you just saw was a remake of the original which was made in 1973?
(Read about the old version on wikipedia wink.gif)

and there you go......didnt see this post. It was really creepy because of the way it was film and the 'oldness' about it.

saw that one to a while ago, I knew it wasn't a funny-funny movie before I saw it so I wasn't disapointed as others have been. I thought there were some funny scenes in it, but mcuh of them were serious and stuff. it was a good movie though the ending was crap.. even though very surprising! very surprising!

do NOT watch "miami vice", it's the most boring movie I've ever seen, really regret paying to watch it! it just so long and nothing really happens. the action isn't REAL action, no real comedy, drama = boring and Colin Pharrell's stomach isn't anything worth watching. dry.gif Really a VERY disapointing movie.

Colin Farrell wink.gif That sucks sad.gif I wanted to see that one just because of Jamie Foxx and Colin, but I'll rent it when it comes on dvd.

Personally I've never dared watched it because it looked scary. But then again I thought that about Cruel Intentions until someone informed it was far from scary rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

I think that was the general consensus... despite the eye candy rolleyes.gif

I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't that. Maybe more action in the city and a lot less fights! They were pretty unrealistic

I went to see 'Step up' today! Despite it obviously being a bit on the predictable side (which movie in that genre isn't?) it was really great. Especially if you love dancing and such movies (like me biggrin.gif), I thought the scenes including big dance-scenes were really great and original. And the fact that the main-characters could both really dance (so I've read before wink.gif) you can definitely tell that that enhances the quality of such a movie if they don't have to use stuntdoubles.
I'm probably even gonna get it when it comes out on DVD to watch again.

Just found this... they are making a High School Musical 2!!! biggrin.gif

High School Musical 2 (proposed title may change) is the sequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical, filming is said to start in summer 2006 and has been previously stated to release in August 2007. All that has been confirmed is: Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad, and Taylor are organizing a talent show at the local country and golf club to which Sharpay, Ryan, and their family belongs to and where Troy is a life guard as a summer job.
  • Bill Borden, producer of High School Musical, said the film was originally planned as a three-part telefilm (as its predecessor Zenon was).
  • All the stars from High School Musical to return for the sequel, as well as the director and choreographer, Kenny Ortega.
  • This movie is going into production immediately after Zac Efron finishes Hairspray.
  • The soundtrack will come complete with brand new music.

There is a film festival near my hometown and last night I saw "Good Night, And Good Luck" which was really good.

I went to avant-premiere of "Lady In The Water" yesterday evening. You've got to go Femke. It's a beautiful movie, full of ordinairy people getting sucked into an Eastern fairytale.
And watch out for M. Night Shyamalan's cameo role as the writer of "The Cookbook"

Well Bella, THANKS for ruining the end of the film laugh.gif

"Wanted - 20 short actors with hairy feet".. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

(Don't panic - it is for a stage show version of Lord Of The Rings! biggrin.gif )

Twenty extra-hairy and vertically challenged people are being sought to play hobbits in a new Lord Of The Rings stage show. Auditioning singers and actors will get the chance to impress directors by belting out two songs of their choice, while displaying hobbit-like tendencies.

The mammoth production is costing an epic £25 million and is expected to break records when it opens in June, as the largest stage show ever to hit the London’s West End. A spokesperson said male and female actors and singers must be less than 5ft 7in, in bare feet, aged between 16 and 35, and that "hairy toes and feet are a distinct advantage". The show will attempt to recreate author JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth with a whopping 45ft-diameter stage and over 150 props. Auditions will be on Monday 18 September at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 9.30am.

The Black Dahlia was not good...i was expecting it to be very good but all of us walked out very disappointed
it was too long, confusing, and the ending was not that great or interesting...Josh Harnett's butt wasn't even that appealing rolleyes.gif but it suprised us
i wish i had just watched a documentary on the actual murder...i didn't even know that this movie was based on a book
KillerQueen.

I finally went too, despite all the awfull critics the movie got. The time lapse issue is a bit strange and if you study hard enough there will probably pop up some paradoxes, but the great thing about it is that it works! A variation on a classic romantic film but one to keep in mind - so lovely in this time of romantic comedies for simpletons (super ex-girlfriend, etc). I enjoyed it very much and if you haven't seen it, go for the dvd wink.gif

I know, it's such a waste for great comics like Eddie Izzard - he's been cast for better roles!

So yesterday was 'High School Musical' day - anyone see it? I don't have the Disney Channel but I just happened to be in a house that did cool.gif

The film was ok but the miming was atrocious. I've really never seen it done so badly in my whole life. I missed the opening of the film so the first time I noticed it was when Charpay and Ryan were singing at the first audition ... what programme/film was the guy who played Ryan in actually? That drove me mad trying to think of it rolleyes.gif

I did a bit of research for you, Val... Lucas Grabeel was in an episode of Boston Legal & a couple of episodes of Veronica Mars. smile.gif

I watched High School Musical too... I thought it was great... entertainment you didn't really have to think about too much. smile.gif

I thought they could have had a nicer looking boy to play Troy laugh.gif . It was good but the miming .. rolleyes.gif

Well.... overnight they built the set, put all the cars, plants & flyposters etc in place cordoned off all areas not wanting to be caught on camera & let everything go on as usual.  All street traffic & people were able to walk the set until they were ready to shoot the sceen. Then they would ask everyone to stand back out of the way & hold the traffic whilst they shot the scene & hey presto that's how they do it....really interesting & no, I didn't get to see Will Smith unfortnately.

Quite fancy seeing The History Boys when it comes out next week...

QUOTE
The film version of Alan Bennett's play The History Boys has received its UK premiere in London before the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Richard Griffiths and the rest of the film's cast flew in from New York to attend, hours after completing the stage version's Tony award-winning run.

"It was emotional," said actor James Corden. "It was the last time that we'll work together as a unit."

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the film opens in the UK on 13 October.

Another production of the play is currently touring the UK and will open in London's West End in December.

Set in Sheffield in the 1980s, The History Boys tells the story of a group of grammar school students studying for their Oxbridge entrance exams.

Griffiths plays Hector, a doting teacher whose affection for the boys goes beyond the strictly professional.

The actor attributed the success of the play - which won six Tony awards earlier this year - to the fact that it is "never boring".

"You can just laugh at the jokes or go along with the songs and think nothing of it," he said.

"A bit later on you realise that you are in a situation where you understand these people and you know what they are feeling."

Since opening at the National Theatre in London in 2004, the original cast have recreated their roles in Hong Kong, New Zealand, New York's Broadway and on film.

"The ability to trust your fellows is enormously powerful and important on screen and on stage," said Griffiths.

"It means you can push the limits, the possibilities of a scene way past what the author asked for."
