i finally saw Strictly Ballroom tonight...it was great biggrin.gif i <3 Baz laugh.gif

ooo, I <3 Baz too!! I haven't seen Strictly Ballroom in a while, and I think it's my least favourite of the three...
I watched my Moulin Rouge DVD again recently and he is a genius!!
Have you seen his Romeo and Juliet?
annabolic
On Saturday night I watched Cocktail, Dirty Dancing (again!) and Little Shop Of Horrors. Cocktail is good, young Tom Cruise is always nice except for the very 80s hair! Little Shop is a bit weird but very funny, and with great music.

I love Cocktail and Dirty Dancing, havent seen those in ages.... also liked strictly Ballroom....and watch Moulin Rouge once a week...at least....my 2 and 4 year olds throw themselves around the sofa saying 'lets make love' as Satine does...theyve no idea what they are going on about obviously but it sounds so horrible laugh.gif

watched Face Off (again) the other night, I just love Nic Cage and John Travolta in it.

Right now Ive got The Return of the King on tongue.gif wonder why laugh.gif

just been to see the interpreter - good! Although worst line of the movie, when Sean Penn says "there are a lot of things we didn't have time for" or somthing like that! rolleyes.gif

Think she did very well in it. Only 2 quibbles with it, from a professional point of view!
- that they couldn't find an interpreter who spoke portuguese to interview the janitor!! That's most unlikely!
- that although she was making a good effort to speak slowly and deliberately, like interpreters do, she was overdoing it, pausing. between. every. word.

On the whole, a very good film though, if a little predictable!

Saw "Episode III" last night when I came home from work... good movie, but Hayden's acting was a little plankish.

His scene where he gets stuck in the lava & burns up was quite horrific... I can understand why it got the certificate it did now.

Watching "War of The Worlds" tonight... wink.gif

oh good please tell us if War of the Worlds is any good....its out now then is it...I fancy seeing that one!

That was shot in SA near to where I live and my cousins and some friends were extras. They got paid R2000(£200) for 10 days work. They had to wear the same clothes and it was really hot so some of the people smelt really bad. Still need to watch it and see if I can spot them.

I've watched Closer last night. God what a beautifull movie (and not forget Jude Law wub.gif ).

Am now watching Oceans 12, which is a bit dissappointing. The only good thing is that our city hall is in it.. laugh.gif Well and Brad Pitt and George Clooney aren't bad either..

I've already been waxing lyrical about the film I saw last night in another thread, but I suppose this is the appropriate place for it, so I'll copy what I said!

I went to see "les Poupees Russes" (Russian Dolls - don't know if that's the official English title) last night and I highly recommend it - although I don't know if it's out where you are... it probably will be released in the UK at some point, coz it's a Franco-British collaborative effort... but alas, probably not in most mainstream cinemas dry.gif as it's not all in English and the 'powers that be' seem to turn their noses up at that! It is in a mixture of French/English/Russian (although mostly French) and set in Paris/London and St Petersburg.

It's the sequel of l'Auberge Espagnole (released in English as Pot Luck, I think!)

they are both FANTASTIC! The first one is about a French student who goes to study in Barcelona for a year - and it sums up perfectly the sort of experiences and emotions 'living abroad', and then returning home, provokes. The sequel is set 5 years later.

I'm am really happy I enjoyed the sequel - that is quite a feat, as the first was brilliant and is still one of my favourite films! Especially difficult as it's not a 'formulaeic' film - was just a sort of 'life' story - but he (Cedric Klapisch, the director) managed somehow to take the characters on in a way that didn't seem forced, unnatural or repetetive! All the old cast made an appearence, but only some were still main characters, so now they are no longer students, but are approaching 'la trentaine' and dealing with life, love and work...

...and just to encourage you to see it by way of a contribution to all your fruity imaginations, there is a *hilarious* scene in the middle where, mid-argument, the main character's girlfriend storms out of his flat and runs down the street (starkers!) and he chases after her, also running down the street (starkers!).... then he catches her up and they make up while standing on a traffic island... much to the bemusement of some (fully clothed!) passers-by!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Oh wow - I hadn't seen him in anything else! In that case you should try to see this one - he plays a HILARIOUS part in it! The typical English 'yoof', not quite getting to grips with the different cultures and managing to offend everyone rolleyes.gif (particularly the German character, funnily enough rolleyes.gif )
He was in the sequel too, but he played a more serious part (although key to the plot, he was the reason for the russian connection, he fell in love with a ballerina!)

"War Of The Worlds" is REALLY good... Tom Cruise & Dakota Fanning are both excellent in it!!! biggrin.gif GO SEE IT!!! biggrin.gif

I also the new "Fantastic Four" movie at the weekend... that totally blew me away... the effects are AMAZING! I bought my copy for £5 & it is amazing quality! biggrin.gif

I was actually kinda disappointed with War of The Worlds, think my expectations were too high! Good effects and some tense moments but somehow wasn't as good as i was expecting.

Something about seeing aliens in films just doesn't quite work for me! I really like the film "Signs" but i think the atmosphere it builds by not actually showing the aliens just suggesting their presence and leaving it to your imagination is far better than when they show a couple of aliens at the end, that brought the film down a bit for me.

I know! Lol trust me my mum and dad have told me all about it, and what the money gained from it is, usually, used for. Not good stuff at all! I'd rather see a film on the big screen anyway, it's always a MILLION times better! biggrin.gif

I agree very much that it is stealing , or piracy as the powers that be call it ! The money is used to fund drug dealing and terrorism - I would hate to think that any of my money might have gone towards Thursday's atrocity in London ..... I always buy dvds , cds , etc from stores or online at Amazon......

Watched Fantastic Four. And I don't like it. I was dying of boredom watching it. I only watched it because Ioan Gruffudd was in it. And the American accent he had was a bit strange. It didn't seem natural. They're contracted to make 2 more of these. It was just way too long, with bad lines and bad acting. Except for lovely Ioan of course.

I have to admit I'd go and see it just for IG! Although, it does look pretty good. He's an added bonus wink.gif
Brink of Insanity
Went to see Mr and Mrs smith. Just LOVED it

I saw War of the Worlds last night....the effects were impressive and it started off good, but nothing compared to the original radio play, no trace of the music either that makes war of the worlds.

the ending was too abrupt, they spent ages building it up and they rushed the ending!

I liked the lead up to big attacked from the aliens but the storyline was quite weak in places, just datoka fanning and tom cruise running away a lot.

i would have liked to have seen a new version made using the musical version iof war of the worlds....the main theme song is a fantastic, haunting piece of music and it wasn't in the film!!!

the cinema actually played about 30 seconds of the theme song before the film started and i got quite excited, but then there was no music in the film!! might go out and buy the cd to make up for it wink.gif

i also thought the film should have had more narration, other than the start and the end to explain the 'war of the worlds' more.

Zoolander is fab isn't it?! Love the petrol fight to Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, classic! laugh.gif

Check out The Life Aquatic, Owen Wilson on fine form and the fantastic Bill Murray. It's by the same guy as The Royal Tenenbaums so slightly off the wall but wicked! Great soundtrack too biggrin.gif

Yay, The Royal Tenenbaums is on BBC2 shortly! If you're free be sure to check it out, classic! laugh.gif

Just watched it HGM, was a bit weird but pretty good. Not sure I'd rush to watch it again though to be honest. Richie was my favourite character I think - and doesn't Luke Wilson look like Owen?!
