Full Version: The Peaceful Thread
Pointless Nostalgic > Jamie Cullum > It ain't necessarily jamie!

Hopefully the title speaks for itself... post a photo that you find calming... we all need to chill out sometimes

Starbuck
There is already a photography thread HERE... it covers all aspects of photography.

I appreciate your comments Funtin though I quite like the idea of a thread that I can pop into and just chill out. In the Photography thread there are all sorts of photos but this to me sounds like the user wanted a chill out thread. Maybe people could also post quotes and poems that help them to chill and unwind so that it becomes a chill out thread as opposed to another photo or chat thread. What do others think?

sorry I agree with Anita in this case.

Refering to the new board rules on multiple threads/posts...

QUOTE
Multiple threads on the same topic will be combined into one thread.
Also, please avoid posting the same thread in multiple forums. While we realize that you want your thread to receive maximum exposure, posting the same thread in multiple forums splits up replies and makes for a weaker discussion.

Just trying to help us all 'stick by the rules' here. [smile.gif]

Thankyou for your comments.

I still like the idea of a chill out thread. Perhaps I will open a new thread accordingly, so people can contribute anything that brings them, and maybe others, peace - whether it be a poem, quote, favourite song or even photograph.

If people feel that this original thread goes against all board rules then perhaps someone should close it.

Maybe instead of calling the thread "The peaceful photos thread" you should've called it "The peaceful thread"- that covers everything, not only photos. Maybe you could ask for a mod to change the name if you really feel like this thread shouldn't be closed.
Just a thought.[smile.gif]

I apologise profusely for the debate caused by my thread. In the process everyone has forgotten to post any photos. If any MOD reads this, please could you change the title of the thread to "THE PEACEFUL THREAD" and subtitle "POST ANY RELAXING PICTURES, POEMS, JOKES, OR ANYHING YOU FIND RELAXING IN HERE"

Thank you very very much

PS, those photos I posted are from a place called Betty's Bay, it's about an hour outside Cape Town in South Africa. They were taken this year in June. I'm glad you liked them! And yes, that area would be good to move to, although possibly rather when you retire than to emigrate smile.gif It's an old people place! hahaha

OK [smile.gif]
we don't seem to have subtitles on this new forum though, so perhaps you can edit your first post to include that part.

A lot of peaceful photos you can find here : www.planet3.de . Alex is a friend of mine and as a scientist he worked at the Vesuv and at the antarctic continent. He was able to take really good photos while wearing 3 pairs of gloves. In the galleries you can deside  fire or ice !!!

Ooooo those pics you posted Jazzy!!!You just made me homesick! [wink.gif] I'm going back home in 3 weeks!!! Can't wait to see the beaches again! Sick of being at varsity now...

Great place to chill out, now that I'm writing my year end exams... [smile.gif]

Clouds are the enemy 7 Oct 2006

I wander along a deserted, misty beach.
I search for some reason; meaning; wisdom; oxygen;
a conclusion that my stubbornly-beating heart must reach.
The dawn of each day attacks me like a violent pathogen:
devouring my rationality, logic and creativity;
not letting up at all, not giving me a moment’s chance to see
the path drawn open for me,
the path drawn so very wide open just for me.

Clouds scrum around me; they threaten my space;
I search for a happy song with which to chase
their angry faces from my mind,
and leave their harsh accusations far, far behind.

I ponder upon happy words - yet I never find the right ones.
Happy… what exactly is happiness?
We all speak of it, but do we truly know it?
I do not know its definition or its appearance.
I wonder if I ever shall.

Steadily, the relentless sunshine pattering in through the dense cloud-mass
shines a fierce light upon my shrouded path of confusion,
and actively burns away all my fearful memories of dark times:
it scorches all sadness,
it incinerates my feelings of madness,
it ignites my being,
it leaves me knowing, feeling and seeing;
it roars in my heart…
I believe.
And I feel alive.
