there's a reply button just on the left above each post, next to the quote button. The reply button just adds a new reply to the thread, the quote button quotes (as you'd imagine). The quick reply opens a new reply window (and is allegedly quicker...).

that's odd. what sort of a super-strength pop up blocker do you have? I think you can set them to accept pop ups from certain sites, yes. But odd that it blocks the smilies though, mine didn't...[unsure]

Its a google toolbar with pop-up blocker. To be honest I just need to have a good play when my pc is being better behaved. I need to phone my cable company and make sure there's no network problems before I humble myself and call my brother-in-law for help. Last time I complained about the pc running slowly, he told me I couldn't expect to actually use it!!
