David Beckham is to quit football after 2008, according to Calderon...
| Quote: |
David Beckham will quit football in two years' time after signing a final contract at Real Madrid, according to club president Ramon Calderon.
The 31-year-old former England captain has not been a regular this season but Calderon is confident he will extend his contract, which runs out next year.
Calderon told BBC Radio Five Live: "As far as I know he has decided to retire in two years' time.
"It would be fantastic if he would stay with us for the next two years."
Calderon insisted Real coach Fabio Capello is an admirer of Beckham, despite restricting him to the substitutes' bench in recent weeks.
He said: "We need him. He's playing very well. The coach trusts him. We hope everything will be arrived at in the next 15 to 20 days to sign the new contract."
|
Calderon audio interview: HERE...
I'll be surprised if her renews his contract, to be honest... he has spent the last 4 matches with Madrid on the bench. [
]
Added to that, Terry Butcher has backed McLaren's decision to keep Beckham out of the England squad... Article HERE
I wonder how long Beckham will wait around in the hope he'll get picked? My guess is NOT LONG. [
]
yep, hopefully not! [

I hope Shay Given will be back soon for Newc and Ireland [

haha nobody's killed me so far.
I've always supported Man United, a long time before I moved to England. I would have preferred to live in Manchester but you need to go where you find a job, you know. And it's not far away from Manchester at all. I love Liverpool as a city, it's a great place to live and people are very friendly. I've been back home for a few days and I miss it like hell.
Obviously many Scousers do hate Man United and discussions about football often ended up in arguments but that's just the way it goes. It's also funny sometimes because people aren't even able to discuss about footie anymore it's proper hate. But I can tell you it was brilliant to call me Scouse friends when Liverpool lost on Sunday! Almost all me English friends support Liverpool because I've only ever lived there. At least me boyfriend doesn't, he's a Blue... no, I'm not saying that's much better.

It was a great game too, I watched it on Prem Plus pay-per-view... Lampard absolutely blasted his goal... it was a free kick, about 25 yards out... amazing shot with just enough swerve to trick the keeper into committing himself too early... by the time the ball got to the net, the keeper had already gone past it! [lol]

Ballack's goal was an excellent header, but I was very surprised the goal wasn't disallowed for Ballack climbing all over the defender as he jumped for the ball. [:S]
