Emelie
OMG what is Charlton doing... Being undefeated along with Man U wub.gif and Chelsea.

And Owen signing for Newcastle...where's the world going to. I thought he said he'd only play for Liverpool. blink.gif tongue.gif
Val

Omg. Everything's happening...
Val
they really covered it up by signing michael owen! take it you didnt know either? who do you support?
Starbuck
Here you go, Vallie... pics of your new golden boy... biggrin.gif

Val
i just wanna say how much i hate that gold on the shirt. the white and blue for the 'northern rock' writing was a lot better last season dry.gif .

anyway lets hope that owen can improve newcastle's form!
Emelie
I support Man U.
Think it strange to have Michael Owen signing for Newcastle anyway...
Starbuck
1-0 to England... Joe cole scored it... good old Chelsea boy!!! biggrin.gif
Starbuck
Yeah, so that's it.. 1-0 to England is the final score... what a crap match, England nearly gave it away in the final minutes but didn't really play well the whole of the second half... they will have to do better on Wednesday. sad.gif

2-0 to Northern Ireland, against Azerbaijan... excellent result for them. smile.gif

Scotland v Italy up next... unsure.gif
Tracey D
despite the fact i don't really like football, i'm glad england won smile.gif

I thought it was very strange...Newcastle are always going to be a club that are UEFA cup position level and if they're lucky, they'll get CL. They haven't scored so far this season, and have only picked up one point. Why would someone of Michael Owen's standard be forced to sign for them? I think because there's something wrong with him - it's either a personality thing (ie not being able to work in a team...not lack of!) or he's going to be injury prone. Why else would the Manchester Uniteds, the Arsenals and the Chelseas turn him down? As for Liverpool, it would hardly have been good business to sign someone for £17m that they sold for £8m...they were never in the running to sign him back...

Thought the England match was a disgrace today - exactly the reason why I refuse to support them. The day those players think they might not get automatically selected is the day they'll get their hunger back. The only player who looked bothered was Rooney. Maybe if they thought they were going to lose their places to Championship club players (come on Peter Reid - next England manager!), they'd look a bit more like the Premiership professionals they're meant to be.
Starbuck
ohmy.gif Good grief... Scotland actually managed a 1-1 draw against Italy!!! biggrin.gif
Emelie
and Sweden once again beat Bulgaria. 3-0 yesterday. Goals scored by Freddie Ljungberg, Olof Mellberg and Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Up and running for best 2nds along with Enlgand at the moment. We have to beat Croatia in Croatia to win the group...
Val
i came on here getting ready to slag all you english people off. and then WHAM!! england scored. but NI went 1-0 up! wahoo!!!!!!!!!

ireland still haven't scored god damn them dry.gif
Tracey D
i hope you are only joking about the english people thing!!! blink.gif wink.gif
Val
um no! NI should totally win. living in ireland (even if its the south) i still have to support them!

and france scored sometime when i wasn't looking dry.gif
Tracey D
I don't like football anyway so couldn't care less who wins really lol

funny how the english like to see all National teams do well but the other national teams don't wanna see england do well......it's totally stupid!
Starbuck

Yep....a one way ticket back to sweden !
Starbuck
I don't know about you, Dave, but I was actually embarrassed to be English last night...

... especially living in Scotland, & after Scotland beat Norway 2-1 too!!! sad.gif
Emelie
I know I liked being Swedish yesterday....scored 1-0 in the 91st!
But Sven should quit. and NOT coach the Swedish team. 0-1 against NI blink.gif

Hi Funtin, been away on business, so just answering, that was a shocking performance that was tactically inept...i cant recall seeing a more disjointed side play for England. sad.gif

Putting Rooney up front by himself was just wrong, wrong, wrong...

The formation was wrong, the tactics were wrong, the line-up was wrong...

Sven couldn't have done a worse job, IMHO... sad.gif

I've just noticed it....i live in a town that has a lot of scottish people in it (in england), i'm of scottish descent myself, but it's amazing how many of the scottish people want england to lose, considering they live in england that quite disrespectful.
Val
hehe that's totally me. i was celebrating when NI won. but then i do live in ireland so i suppose i can biggrin.gif

Back to the league... a nice 2-0 win for the Blues over Sunderland (sorry Mark, wherever you are! biggrin.gif )... the goals truly came 'out of Africa' with one each from Geremi & Didier Drogba. Another win, another three points, another clean sheet for the table-topping Champions. But José Mourinho was left counting the cost when Spanish international Asier del Horno picked up a muscular injury in stoppage time and is ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Anderlecht.

“He went away to Spain, trains twice a day every day, plays against Yugoslavia, flies next day, trains yesterday, plays today, after 90 minutes sprints for a tackle and now has a muscular injury.” the Chelsea boss shrugged. “But if you look at the French team,” he continued disgruntedly, “Makelele is out injured, Henry is injured, Thuram and Zidane are not playing & unfortunately, that is the life of internationals".
Val
newcastle got another point. so we have a total of 2 points then! laugh.gif
Starbuck
Here's me in my new Chelsea away shirt... biggrin.gif

Starbuck
Chelsea 1 Anderlecht 0... It was a Frank Lampard free-kick that defeated the Champions League’s perennial losers. Belgian league leaders they may be but this loss makes it eight defeats-in-a-row in the competition for Anderlecht. That is the Champions League’s record losing run.

Three points against the probable weakest team in the group was therefore imperative so it is with some relief that Chelsea escaped with a clean sheet after the closest attempt on Petr Cech’s net since the Community Shield. Anderlecht struck the post in a second-half that only occasionally threatened to offer up another Chelsea goal.

José Mourinho chose to break-up his first choice centre-back pairing to deal with the absence of the injured Asier del Horno. William Gallas moved across to the left-back position he deputised in so well last season with Ricardo Carvalho coming into the centre for his first game of the season.

It was heavy going for long periods of the evening but not for the first time in recent European competition, Chelsea’s strength from set-pieces made the difference as this season’s Champions League campaign got off to a winning start.

Chelsea 2 Charlton 0...

Chelsea march on relentlessly at the Premiership summit after defeating second-placed Charlton Athletic 2-0 at The Valley.

After a goalless first half, Hernan Crespo headed the visitors in front and Arjen Robben made sure of the points soon afterwards with a curling effort.

Jose Mourinho's side have set a new record for not conceding a goal at the start of a Premiership season and are six points clear of the field already.

New daddy Frank Lampard with baby Luna... Awwwwwww! biggrin.gif

Just noticed this comment and it made me smile! Anyone who thinks Sven actually manages England is sadly mislead. Watch him in the next match, and then keep your eye on 'second in command' Macca - then you'll know who's in charge!

Premiership news...

Man Utd's Roy Keane breaks a matatarsal in his left foot in 0-0 draw with Liverpool... he is expected to be out for 2 months.

New boy Michael Owen inspires & scores as Newcastle beat Blackburn 3-0... Shearer & N'Zogbia also scored.

I'm hoping so... laugh.gif Just think where Leeds would have been if Roman had decided to clear our "tiny-in-comparison-to-Chelsea's" debts?! I see Chelsea at the moment as a bizarre footballing experiment that will come to an end eventually. Normal service will be resumed... wink.gif
Starbuck
You're just jealous... dry.gif wink.gif laugh.gif
LauraKeane
Can't say I am - I'm loving the Championship. It's tons more exciting than the one horse race Premiership. And I certainly won't be jealous when Roman gets bored!!! Better to have sustained development, than getting everything you wish for and having it [eventually] taken away. And of course, it's always better to have a large amount of loyal supporters (who have been through EVERYTHING - relegation, possible administration, possible closing of the club, attacks in Istanbul, court cases...the list could go on forever) rather than an army of fairweather 'fans' who have only seen the good days. Until you hear that your club will no longer exist if money isn't found soon, you'll never know how much (or indeed how little) they mean to you. And I wouldn't have it any other way!
Starbuck
It's only a one-horse race because we are better than everyone else... Arsenal can't get near us & Man Utd have Rooney the Looney to worry about & now have a captain with a broken foot... if Chelsea continue to play well & don't concede any goals (like they haven't yet this season), then they deserve every accolade they get & every peice of silverware they win. smile.gif

Roman gave Chelsea a lifeline taking us over... the fans appreciate it & so do the players.... your comments sound like sour grapes to me.
*sally*
Funtin':

Well, she actually ain't wrong... if Abramowich decided one day that he isn't interested in this team anymore, Chelsea would definitely have a problem. Chelsea have a fantastic squad, but only he made this possible. Almost none of the players used to play for Chelsea before he took over the team.

About the fans... there are even a lot of Chelsea fan here in Switzerland, guess why. wink.gif That are probably not the people who will support the team when it is less successful.
saint100
Let's face it, Chelsea will probably win the Premiership. I hope my team qualify for the Champions league and do themselves credit. I don't think biting a true fan like Laurakate's head off by saying she suffers from "Sour Grapes" is very fair or sportsmanlike.

I just remembered actually. My team beat Chelsea last year. Then they did something Chelsea will never do. Win the Champions league! lol laugh.gif laugh.gif
Val
newcastle ... finally ... WON ohmy.gif biggrin.gif ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

John Terry, Frank Lampard and Claude Makelele were last night named in the first FIFpro XI, voted by the players of the world and announced in London.

This was the world equivalent of the PFA Player of the Year. The World Player of the Year was Ronaldinho, the Young Player was Wayne Rooney.

The full team was: Dida (Milan); Cafu (Milan), Nesta (Milan), Terry (Chelsea), Maldini (Milan); Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Makelele (Chelsea), Lampard (Chelsea), Zidane (Real Madrid); Shevchenko (Milan), Eto’o (Barcelona).

Chelsea’s winners were all at the dinner to collect their awards.

come on the wanderers!!! Bolton have got off to another ood start ths season! 4th in the league... that's what i like.

Though i was embarassed by the way they played against city the other day, but sometimes games go like that.. tje ones who win aren't the one's who deserve to.

must say though that Psycho man has done alot for City.. he is a good manager.. just no-one could beat Sam as a manager.. you know he's the best biggrin.gif
