The tenara is a pub/restaurant somewhere in the universe: a place where you can meet friends after work, where you can chill out and have a drink , a meal, a friendly word , and it was once run by chan now reopened by atroi.......

I only have to think of the menue-card......

*Atroi polishing glasses and waiting for some curious guests*

sev

hello atroi, dear...

wow looks like in the old days....

i
guess i have to search for the packing cases.....and bring the rest
along within the next few days... i wonder when chan will notice
it....

hope you did bring stavros along - or what was his name? *g*

thedanishgirl

hmm.. read a review about this place the other day, a very good review as a matter of fact.. looks pretty nice, very clean. I always a pub/restaurant the tumbs up, when I see the waiters/owner polishing the glasses and what not, that's just pure quality.. I believe I might try this place out again, have to try all the dishes and drink on the menu..

atroi

you read a review about the tenara???  Wow! I´m impressed....[biggrin.gif] ......

hi sev, darling?  That´s a good idea...and I think chan might do the menue-card for us again...with her artistic abilities.......

It was Stavros, our greek cook.......sometimes he was called other names, though.....I can´t remember [wink.gif]

And the waiters: Nannok and Pitter and Ruinan, the female version for the few male guests......

Nannok, do bring those two ladies a welcome-drink : what ´s it gonna be??

thedanishgirl

uhh.. a welcome drink?!!

the service here is very good and very fast, not a bad place at all..! hmm, what to choose, it's a huge drink-menu you have.. you know what, surprice me..!

atroi

Well, you don´t have to ask twice: my very speciality ........Tequilla sunrise for the girl from Denmark......do you also say "skol" ?????

URL=http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i98/atroi/tequilasunrise.jpg][/URL]

thedanishgirl

I just absolutely love it when you only have to ask once..

uhh, a tequila sunrise, they're a classic! yep, we say "skål".. and sing a little song (when we're very drunk.. or just a bit drunk...)

atroi

I guess one tequilla sunrise won´t get you to some singing....[wink.gif] ...but interesting: what song could that possibly be??

*and helping sev with those cases.....and searching for the watercolours for our painter chan*

Stavros, that smells delicious, what´s the menue of the day?? aaaahhh.......Bifteki.....

thedanishgirl

no, I have to get at least 3-4.. but it could be something like:

"vi skåler for vores venner og dem som vi kender, og dem vi ikke kender, dem skåler vi for!"

and it's a very cheery melody..!

bifteki... intriging, what might that be? and it does smell delicious..!

atroi

bifteki is a greek dish :  how shall I explain?

Well, if you know Findus and Petterson (norwegian childrens´book figures) then you know the favourite dish of the tom-cat Findus : in swedish something with buller at the end.....those small meat balls are a bit bigger in Greece filled with goat cheese......there you go......bifteki.....*Atroi only hoping for that menue-card coming up real soooooon.......*

danishgirl, could you translate that danish song for us?  something with knowing or not knowing people??

atroi

and because a picture can explain more than a thousand words:

Bifteki

sev

atroi - did you think of "köttbullar", maybe?  lucky me, someone of my relatives wants to learn swedish *g* i wondered whether "die kinder von bullerbü" have something to do with it [huh]

danishgirl, how do you write those "a°" ? is there a special key for it somewhere?

hej do...  *waiting for chan to turn up and rummaging out those cases, still*

i think i have to go and get pitter to help me....

atroi

jajaja....köttbullar...that´s the word I was looking for !! Thanks sev !! No, I don´t think Bullerbü has something to do with it.....

this a with the circle is only on scandinavian things.....[sad.gif]

BTW we have some swedish forumites, sev, and maybe one of them can explain Bullerbü......

atroi

*Atroi discussing today´s dish with Stavros.....and a dispute with a greek can be quite dramatic*[lol]

oh dear......I wanted some interesting fish and he only cooks fish on Fridays....well.....have you ever heard of tilapia????  Or even tried one??

thedanishgirl

well, I think I will have to try bifteki, but I'm quite hungry, so perhaps also the dish of the day tilapia... to bad there's no fish, in the mood for fish!

okay, the translation of the song, a rough translation:

"vi skåler for vores venner og dem som vi kender, og dem vi ikke kender, dem skåler vi for!"

"we say cheers for our friend and those that we know, and the people we don't know, we'll say cheers for them"

it's not quite like that, but it's hard to translate it, it's really just a stupid song [biggrin.gif]

@sev: the "å" is a key on the danish keyboard, it's an extra letter we have in DK along with "ø" and "æ".. we are the only coundtry with them, but I think they get used a bit in sweden and norway aswell..

Val

Hi girls! I've never heard of a Tenara in my life but I thought I'd come here to see what's it all about [smile.gif]

Everyone has the 'fada' key right (thats what we call it in Irish) e.g. í or é or á or ú or ó

atroi

Ce sont les accents, chérie !!!  ah oui......

Here in Germany we haven´t got those a with circles.....you know and those o that are crossed out....

Hi Val, so nice to see you......how old are you???  eh....I just need to know because of my license[wink.gif

What a funny and deepmeaning song, danishgirl.......[lol] Love it!!!

So, as today is Friday...I´ll ask politely for the tilapia (which happens to be a fish).....well , and if Stavros doesn´t want to cook...I know a certain lad who has experiences with fish ......[biggrin.gif] ...with a capital D.

chan

MY Tenara!!!!!!! … somewhere in the width of the universe … ooooh, I’ve missed it.   [rolleyes]

*take a close look … recognizing all the details …  the well-known bar and kitchen, the endearing comfortable sofa corner, the great terrace, the wellness area, the unusual wine cellar … *

And you have also brought the cook together with Pitter, Ruinan and Nannok @atroi, you think of everything and of everyone. *big smile … knkn* … [wink.gif]

These days work kills me (and my time) - but from the end of the next week I will stand to you - with words and deeds aside … will read all your postings … and introduce myself … [ph34r]

Sorry, " just fast postings" in English, nevertheless, it’s definitively heavier for me . For me, the German who has learnt English, indeed, years, years ago at school, but I could apply it too seldom... reading is easy for me, however, but writing ... *uhhhrgh*[wacko]

atroi

ooooooohhhhh.....a compliment by the founder.....thanks chan....and do come back next week and please help us with that menue-card........pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase!!![lol]

and because of this special day........some music.......

*Atroi searching for "Walking in a winter wonderland.......* [wink.gif]

atroi

Garlic butter tilapia.........there you go!!!

Stavros, can you manage that????  *Atroi looking into a steamy kitchen....wondering*

Dave

Fish ! ahhh yes......fresh tuna......marinated in Cider and Paprika, part oven baked, wrapped in foil then flamed grilled in with a teaspoon of cider to finish.....very nice....[smile.gif]

Please,  if anyone wishes to explain the etiquette of this thread, just let me know.

* the endearing sofa corner, sounds like my idea of great at this minute *

atroi

There he is, chan...the lad with a capital D.[wink.gif]  Did I promise too much? He knows his tuna.....[biggrin.gif]...

I guess Dave, whenever Stavros is ill, you´ll get a short note to come and help out.....or if you want to cook something with him ...feel free....our kitchen is all yours!! And don´t worry, no lawn-mowing necessary here......[wink.gif]

The etiquette??  Hmm......try to see this as stand-up-theatre : ...just be you, in your funny way, and MINGLE !!!!![lol]

*dragging Dave to that endearing sofa corner *

Val

Um, hope you don't mind me asking but who is chan? [unsure] I see s/he only has 2 posts ..

I'm watching one of the tv chat-shows here and there's a Dublin girl on it who win Miss Ireland ... oh if you could hear her. She has this really rough accent, its pretty funny to look at her and then to hear her [lol]

atroi

oh chan......our mystery lady.....[wink.gif].......well, Val,  just be patient....as she said she will introduce herself later.......

ah yes, the rough accent......you know, way back when.......I´ve been to Ireland, with three other girls, we´ve just finished school and made a trip to Ireland in a 2CV ...with a chinese dragon painted on it......it was quite a fuzz we made.....ask your parents if they remember[wink.gif] .......anyway, sometimes I must have looked like a idiot, after asking for the way to .... and getting an answer that left me looking like a stupid person, because I didn´t understand a word......same happened to me in Scotland[wink.gif]

Do want some coffee, Eilís ??

Ruinan, see to it that Dave gets some English breakfast.......

atroi
*Atroi putting on "Lucia di Lammermoor"
Val

*peter concotti enters* he says he wants us to listen to him ... might aswell!

Would love some coffee thanks. What are you having yourself?

atroi

I´ll have a cappuccino......

Now, Val, tell me about that special birthday......we could have a little party here.....*thinking of a lot of decoration still stuffed in one of those cases* ......what would you say??

Val
We could have a party but I won't be here on my birthday! I have two exams that day and my business exam (and my final exam [biggrin.gif]) the next day ... we could have it then BUT thats Valentines Day [wink.gif] [wink.gif] [wink.gif] So not sure how many people will be here [rolleyes] But we could have it that Thursday! [biggrin.gif] And I'll be able to drink loooooooads of alcohol (even though I don't like it, we can pretend)
thedanishgirl

don't worry eílis, we'll just celebrate without you [wink.gif] we can't have your birthday going by unnoticed..!

QUOTE

Val

atroi

Quiche lorraine:

yes, the tenara was once the meeting place for various of species....hence....the variety of dishes......

Dave

Sitting here on the sofa watching the world go by, and drinking the finest guatemala antiqua coffee.... rich and full bodied........much like the waitresses ! [wink.gif]

Im not too hungry today, so shall sit and relax in the confines of the sofa corner, before eyeing the menu.

atroi

yes, Ruinan ( a relative of Guinan...) is very special, Dave ! She is a El-Aurian....and about 560 years old....but it doesn´t show, does it??[wink.gif] .......what I like about her are her somewhat floating movements.....she walks like a river runs....

Dave
560 years, ahhh, a women of experience, that can only be a good thing in such a fine establishment.[smile.gif]

Still serving it today....would you like some Riesling with it???

thedanishgirl
why yes, sounds great even though I don't really know what it is..
atroi
oh, I´m sure wikipedia can explain it in English much more efficient than me[wink.gif] ....and Riesling is a white wine......
thedanishgirl

sure, I'll take some riesling (even though I don't really like wine)..

is it me, or are you playing some music? it's not very loud though...

atroi
ha[biggrin.gif] ......Stavros and his Mikis Theodorakis .....in his kitchen.......hmmm......somehow I get the feeling I should go into the wine cellar and get some Retsina as well......
sev

incredible!!!

good old NEW tenara. many new faces...

à peine une semaine je n'étais pas là, et ....look at all those replies....

atroi,
dear, what's on the menu today? i'm starving.... maybe i'll just sneak
into the kitchen and give stavros a little incitation *gg*

eilís,
it's much more easy to write your name than you think! we have an extra
´   key. so you press the ´ key and then the i key,
et voilà.

oh yes, ireland..... i was in dublin last fall.
it was marvellous. i planned the trip myself...my little sister will be
staying in ireland for an exchange this year... three terms. one could
really be jealous... what i love about the language, it's the
"r" [biggrin.gif]

lol atroi, chan the mystery lady.... i liked this one *gg*

say, anyone here fond of puns?? i found some real good ones on the internet....

thedanishgirl

it sound fab!

perhaps you should get some, sev might want some..

atroi

let´s hear some puns, then, sev !!!

it´s quiche lorraine with either Riesling or Retsina......darling.  Yes, I´m sure chan likes the cryptic description as well....[wink.gif]

what´s happened in that semaine ????

sev

take a look at me....... if i have the choice..... between red and white wine.......[biggrin.gif] as usual, atroi

atroi

well, if you insist....although the white wine goes much better with the quiche......aaah......as long as it´s not a Merlot...[wink.gif] right chan?? Remember??  Sideways ????[lol]

*serving the two girls some quiche and a Riesling and a Bordeaux ......*

I´ve been thinking......maybe we could arrange a little concert here.....how about the master himself ???

sev

ok... some of the good ones:

 1. A vulture
boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons. The stewardess looks at
him and says, "I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion allowed per passenger."

4. Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says "I've lost my electron."
The other says "Are you sure?" The first replies "Yes, I'm positive."

5. Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during
a root canal?
His goal: transcend dental medication.

6. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were
standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories.
After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked
them to disperse. "But why?" they asked, as they moved off.
"Because", he said, "I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

7. A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them
goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a
family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture
of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her
husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband
responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

8. These friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up
a small florist shop to raise funds. Since everyone liked to buy flowers
from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition
was unfair. He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not.
He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him. So,
the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious
thug in town, to "persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and
trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop.
Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

sev

hey atroi, i KNOW white wine (white whine *gg*) goes with the quiche
lorraine, but if the red wine is cold enough *gg* let it slowly,
gradually get warmer then.... perfect. *sigh* *gg*

and here is the BEST PUN I'VE EVER HEARD. there's no better one in the whole world. believe me.....

. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which
produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little,
which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath.
This made him....
A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.
