Full Version: Another Forum Interview

Now that we've hit 500,000 posts on the forum we're going to run another forum interview. There will be a slightly different format this time though. Instead of running a live online Q and A here we want you to post your questions for Jamie and the band in this thread and we'll film them answering the best ones and put the clips up in the members area of jamiecullum.com. I believe this was me28's idea, so all credit to her.

You have until June 25th to post a question, so that's plenty of time to think of something, and we'll film the answers soon after that. The better the question the more likely they are to answer it.

ONE question each. If you post a question, and later think of a better one, please go back and edit your post. And QUESTIONS ONLY in this thread please.

Get your thinking caps on!

Question

Time do diss the dirt, guys. Seeing as you are on the road together for long periods of time things are bound to get heated sometimes. So, what is the worst fight you have had whilst touring and has it ever affected a gig?

okay so I came up with a question.

Since I am intrested in photography to 110% and I know u like (love?) photography too, I am wondering what ur first camera was, non digital or digital? Everytime I shoot I feel that I've memorized something. I've made a difference for me, I get proud everytime I take a good shot 'cause I love taking them so much. I love shooting serious and just for fun too, but when I do it more serious (like a baby shoot I did a few months ago) it's fun too. Maybe sometimes even more fun, cause u know you are making the parents happy, that is if u are shooting a baby. My first baby shoot was so exciting and fun and the parents were so happy with the pics and my heart just got all melty and warm rolleyes.gif lol now that wasn't much of a question, but here it comes. Have u ever felt so too when you sing for a audience, that you give them something special, you give them something personal that really comes from the heart? If so, is that one of the things that keeps you going? (note, one of the things wink.gif ) And one last thing, listen to a song called Love Vibration - Josh Rouse. It has a beautiful, kewl sax solo in the end rolleyes.gif

Hope u guys are enjoying the touring (I know u are wink.gif )

Have a nice day!

Why do you think there is a lack of racial minorities that attend your concerts and/or are fans of your music, considering the origins of jazz are deeply rooted in the Black community?

*****

Thanks for taking the time to do this for the fans. It makes a difference smile.gif

I know this is a bit an absurd question but anyway:

You have to choose between your hands (maybe feet laugh.gif) to play piano and your voice. One off them is being removed. Which one would you choose and why?

And a suggestion:

Record a song together with Herbie Hancock, it'll be awesome!
JamiesAngel
(arrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh, my second very clever question got lost and i am not home, here goes)

Hi Jamie love, a long very impolite hug to you, (actually, how long is one of those, maybe you can show me after the Ottawa gig), *offers handshake to* Geoff, Seb,Tom and Rory, (Rory, have you any idea what you have got yourself into? heheheh). this is Stephanie from Burmingum, England.

So, my question. In my spare time, when i am not stalking you around the world or posting on PN, i am a social scientist, (a christian too, what a combination!) so i am very much into all that is fair, if not equal. My question is, and please try to be honest for me... i fully acknowledge all the hard work you all do for charitable causes, and very much support talent and passion should be supported, in all ways, as well as financially, you guys have to eat too, but what i would like to ask, which is in danger of being a sensible question, (see ask jamie anything thread for the joke) is would you guys consider doing a free and gratis show in a deprived area, either at home or abroad, say North Africa if safe?

lots of love to you all, big thanks to all involved and kiss to Me28

Wouldn't it great if the band addressed the question chosen by including the person's name when answering?

For instance...
21stcenturyjesse asks, "You have to choose between your hands (maybe feet laugh.gif) to play piano and your voice. One off them is being removed. Which one would you choose and why?"

It would give PNers such a flattering feeling and their 5 minutes of fame!

Just a suggestion. smile.gif

EDIT BY MOKUSCAM: This is indeed how it will work.

My question is:

How does it make you feel, when fans spend so much money to go to other countries to see you in concert? Scared, because you might have a stalker? laugh.gif Flattered or both?

Everybody knows that you've learned (or are still learning) your instruments all by yourself. But what about your singing skills? Did anybody show you the tequnique? Did you ever have lessons?

hjohnson03
Hi Jamie 'n' Co. My question is how you write the most amazing songs (for me, All At Sea and 21st Century Kid were the best Jamie on his own wrote). I'm 14 years old and I'm a musician (piano, guitar and percussion) and a songwriter, and basically I take after you. I read novels, watch old films and keep upto date with the news, and it's not sinking in yet. Also, my final qusetion would be if next time you tour the UK, please could you go to The Sage, Gateshead. It's a great place to perform in, even I have performed there in a songwriting contest and you cannot be dissapointed. Finally, I know people at school think I'm odd about listening to Jazz music and other oldies, but that's what makes me intrested in music. Surley I'm not wrong about that.
sxc_dex
Hey Jamie,

One question that i wanted to ask you is, Because you are touring for more than a year, do you miss the fact that you arent at home with your family and girlfriend? Thanks Dexter Gordon Melbourne Australia
Caren
Hey guys,
when we read about "the new Sam" we speculated also, if it could be a girl this time. Besides many random questions like "are men just the better blowers?" coming up then, I'd be seriously interested in how it comes that there are so many homogenic male bands. Now, you can't speak for the others but how is it for you? Do you think a girl in the band would cause some gender trouble or make your sanitary problem (blame Ben's diary for my close knowledge) even more embarassing or would it destroy the "hanging around with the boys"-tour feeling?
Jamie you said in an interview, if you were a woman for one day, you'd like to be in a room only with girls and see what happens (no, we don't stay naked in front of mirrors whereas having multiple orgasms all the time watching ourselves, like you obviously supposed us to do). I guess you can't even imagine, what we picture you guys doing and talking in that bus all the time *lol*. But back to the question: Could you imagine to have a regular female band member?

Thanks for answering!
Tina, Cologne
Katie82
Jamie-I've often read that you are really enjoying your life right now, but do you see yourself getting married and having children in the near future?

Loved your show in St. Louis. Please come back soon. I'm learning how to play the bass because of you and your band.

Question

Did you ever think; wow! my life has completely changed. or did you never even thought about that?
what were you doing at that moment?

kiss Angel..
sadie
Oddly or coincidental my question has a connection to the previous one by Angelgirl.

Jamie: Do you realize that you yourself have had such on effect on (some) people, you actually changed there lives? Does it scare you? Or do you feel good about that?

(Anyway I do feel good about it laugh.gif )

What are some of the best gifts you've received from fans?
jamierox0918
hey Jamie and band. I just wanted to say that i absolutely LOVE your music and that its just so amazing how talented you are. I play bass guitar but i am just learning and i was wondering if you hadany tips or anything to help me improve and get to be a master bass player so one day i might be in a famous band. also i was wondering what kinds of music do you listen to? what kinds of american music do you like to listen to? what bands do you like and what genres of music?

thank you so much for all the great music and im looking forward to getting your concert dvds and all your cds that i dont have yet.

Will you marry me???? rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif ....

No, just kidding!! Real question:
If there was one thing you could change in your life, what would that be??

Funny question:
Can you clap with just one hand???? ( and not on your leg or something )

..... but serious....would you??? wink.gif
jazzieone
Dear Jamie and band....

Since we have heard that you are not touring next year my question is will you be spending most of your time on holiday or creating new music? Can you tell us what direction your next CD will be heading into? Have you already started writing songs that could be on it? Will you and Seb and Geoff be together on it? of course you will right? Do you think you would have a collaboration with any other artists on the new CD and whom would you possibly think of working with? I heard that you wrote the song Ghost that Nick Lachey has on his new CD. Did you write the entire thing and is there anything else out there that you have written and sold to other artists?

I love the way your music has evolved from Pointless Nostalgic to Twentysomething to Catching Tales. I am quite excited to see what is next for you and the band.

Your music has changed my life for the better.
renee
First, thank you for agreeing to respond to our inane queries.

Since the replies are being filmed, could y'all (yes y'all jamie - stop laughing at me- I can't help it)
could y'all play a little of "You know what it means to miss New Orleans" for me

and now the real question - for all of y'all;
If you could each spend a day with any musician living or dead, who would it be and why?

Oh and thank you for spending so much time touring this year, as we all appreciate it!
Queen of Uranus
Hey Jamie! lol, i had a totally random dream about you last night, i was sitting next to you on da plane and we were discussing the Monopoly board game! laugh.gif

NEwaiz, my question is about your FIRST cd, Heard It All Before. Since it's really rare and it's in great demand ( wink.gif ) do you see yourself ever making more copies of that again? or is that all sort of in the past?

luv ya!

Queenie of Uranus, Melb. Australia
Dave
Has there been one hangover to beat all hangovers whilst on tour ?

And who out of the group has been the worst ?

No venue names needed wink.gif just the country biggrin.gif ( musical question had already been asked by others )

Many thanks

Dave
Prada
In what ways would your life have differed i.e career or popularity if you were a woman. Do you think you would have been a musician, less or more successful?

And oh yeah, I really enjoy your music!!

Is Seb the nice, shy, sensitive , quiet , tactful person he seems to be in real life??? Could you even answer that question out of a more "womanly" view??? laugh.gif

My question is for entire band. Here we go:

How feminine you are? Who's the most feminine of you all?
Miriam
Hi Jamie!! My question:

Is it weird to hear that people actually dream about you? (I dreamed about you last week, but you looked very different, and then Seb wanted to kiss me laugh.gif)
aquarian_gurl
Which people are your craziest / loudest fans?

I thought i'd ask as I went to the show in Cardiff on January 13th as it was my birthday lol & you were amazing if i may say so. Hopefully you come back

Jamie mate,

the wife wants to know......
there have been many questions about your adoring fans and possible stalkers, the cute brunett kind. I am about to be dragged half way across the globe and back again during July to see you not once or twice, but 5 times!!!! apologies in advance. So, the question, is this unreasonable behaviour grounds for divorce? blink.gif

Question from my two nutty cats, Sugar & Spice to Luna (sp?)

"When your daddy returns home after leaving you for days, even weeks at a time, ( ohmy.gif laugh.gif) do you do that cute thing that makes him spoil you rotten??? If not, we can give you great tips on how to get extra milk and treats! meooow ! laugh.gif biggrin.gif"

Hey Jamie and band...you are all so very talented and I can't wait to see you all in July at Delamere! biggrin.gif

As a Graphic Designer, I am interested to know what you think of the design of your website and did any of you have any input into how the site should look?

Big Hug for all of you's!

Tracy (aka smellyfish!)

P.s....I would have designed it for free for you in return for a peck on the cheek!! wink.gif
Stevan
Music is a big part for the whole band. Has it been part of everyone of you since you were a child? If not when did you guys start getting into music?
