Didn't know anything about JC, Pointless Nostalgic, jazz, nothing. I had the following day off work so searched the internet to see what I could do that evening. The blurp sounded interesting and as I'd just started to learn the piano I thought I'd go and have a look. The Wardrobe was also new to me (I'll have to get out more). In the basement, dark, uncomfortable seats dotted around, bar in the corner, stage at one end of the venue, and a capacity of around 200, I thought this is what jazz must be all about. The VIP radio people were chatting and drinking their free booze, I paid for my drink and sat in the corner. JC came onto the stage and for two hours attacked the piano, what a performance, Wind Cries Mary that night just blew me away. That night I became a convert.
