17th March 2006 - SXSW, Austin - USA

Setlist

2006-03-20

from Dianne

I went to SXSW with really no knowledge of Jamie's music other than hearing a little bit on television, so there was a tiny star next to his name in my big book, but I wasn't planning to go out of my way to see him. *ducks tomatoes* So, I went to the Paste magazine party excited to see Josh Ritter and Over the Rhine, but before them was Jamie Cullum. I wasn't expecting to see this spiky haired ball of energy that blasted all over the stage leaping from pianos and playing percussion on every available surface. Luckily for me, he was playing again that evening after Rhett Miller (who I was already planning to see). The gig was dynamic and unforgettable. The energy in the place went out the roof as he whipped the crowd into a sweaty fervor. I'm hooked.
