Although over 50 Years old, but loving and playing music since my whole life, I visited Jamies concert the first time. Mixed people from teens to more than seventies (70 plus)have been kicked by this unbelievable atmosphere, when Jamie Cullum and his excellent musicians sing, play, dance, not only on stage, but in the middle of the crowd downstairs. This is real live performance that I haven¥t seen since young Pat Metheney has done it many years ago. Jamie, me, my wife and our friends have had a wonderful gigs night at Freiburg. We love your music and we admire the professionality from you and your whole team!

You will enjoy the following shows so much, I promise. It's as if the fact that the tour's over soon gave the whole band a new push of energy and even more inspiration. They were so FANTASTIC tonight ....eh... yesterday... (*haven't slept*). It started with Fascinating Rhythm -with a break of a laughing attac of Jamie about a funny noise from the audience- and yes, Teardrops was played too (and Back to the Ground with a very entertaining Tom Waits persiflage and an unknown but very talented harmonica guest player called "Stephan"). Rory played a completely mindblowing loooong solo during Frontin and the audience answered with standing ovations and hysterical screaming, Sebastiaan had one of his famous solos too and seemed to enjoy playing again (after I saw him a bit tired in summer). I heard an Old Devil Moon that I never heard before (and had to eat my words in some other thread that this track annoyed me in the meantime). The gig started a bit in a hangover-shape, but already after 10 minutes I was totally in another universe... either the songs slided through long instrumental parts incredibly elegant one into another or the moderation of Jamie between them was really funny. There wasn't a single boring moment in the whole gig. The audience-chorus has been rearranged a bit and the new audience chorus together with the band playing was certainly one of the highs. If I want to be picky I should perhaps admit that I missed the sax a bit. I saw Tom already better, but nevertheless it was all on such a high level, that at some points my brain was just before to explode, when I couldn't decide who just deserves my attention most. It's really better than all drugs I know (and probably also better than those I don't know) to hear such a band playing live and at their best. I couldn't be bothered to write a whole setlist because I wanted just to enjoy the gig, but I will write you everything I remember later bit per bit if necessary. Now I'm just too tired and have some trouble using my fingers because I had too many different drinks. But you don't wanna miss the fun-parts I guess: so if there's something you want to bring to the next gigs and you've some song - requests, the guys need desperately some "clean men's underwear" ... that's the only available way to get the songs played you wanna hear.... so get some waterprooved pencils ... now typing that I have the impression that clean men's underwear can mean also the underwear of clean men *caugh*... but that's probably only because I'm still drunk. Then Jamie destroyed a drumstick at his piano that he 'could mistreat as much as he wanted, because it was his own - and because he didn't get enough love as a kid' ... so the mummies and daddies among you... please start ignoring your kids from now if that's what comes out then Slowly some other memories come back... there was a very slow and cynical version of "If I only Had a Brain" dedicated to Mr. Bush, "Get Your Way" - with even with proper scratching this time (and not only random moves with that toy *lol*), "Catch the Sun" was the track where the band managed to get rid of their hangovers and "London Skies" as usual managed to get people out of their seats... at the beginning of the show a girl throw a Pete Doherty style hat on stage with a little message (obviously a request for London Skys"... and something else funny, because Jamie was laughing a lot when he read it). And then the hat was taken to for a kind of solo -game. Jamie put it on Rory's head to indicate that he had to play a solo, and he gave it to Sebastiaan for his solo part... for some reason the hat was too big for Sebastiaans head or Rory put it on wrong, but poor Sebastiann couldn't see anything during his solo (but managed it great although) ...and Jamie improved a lot as guitar player. When he introduced Teardrops he played really good.... so I'm still waiting for "my Yard" live. e should be ready for it in the meantime. "High and Dry" slided into "Photograph" (or was it the other way round)? And embarassingly there was also a love song I didn't know at all. Mind Trick was just orgiastic fun as always with the random gender crossing dance at the screen... The encores have been "All at Sea" and "Twentysomething" ...sadly not more of Catching Tales... and I want to hear "nothing I do", "My Yard" or "7 days o change your Life" and was hoping for it until the end. Photos...you know I'm not a good photographer... but I spent some nice girls a drink who made a pic about any second of the gig... and they promised to mail the best of them at my email to put them in the forum... Oh- and I'm now the half official translator of Nizlopi. Before they started they asked me to write them down a few German sentences in English pronounciation... and so I wrote random things like "Veer seend Nizlopi ound ferkaofen draossen tswai Cd's" in their book They must have sold hundreds of CDís after their far too short wonderful set. At least the queue before their merchandize table was longer than the queue before the toilets and the bar.

You might excuse my English, but I'm german and not so good at your language! I visitet Freiburg with my best girlfriend Barbara to see Jamie live on stage. After the show, we both agreed that we've never seen a better concert in our life. It was an overwhelming performance and we couldn't sleep that night! For more than twenty years, Sting was our great idol, but since November 17th, it's definitely Jamie Cullum. Thanks for this unforgettable evening. We hope to see you soon on stage again!!
