Jamie sang, played the hell out of his piano, and ran around on stage with the energy of a twentysomething who truly loves what heís doing. The audience in the lovely Bimboís nightclub had the pleasure of getting to know Jamie ahead of the larger American crowds that would follow him around only months later. Around me were folks ranging in age from 18 to 80, all equally enjoying the music. How many artists can pull that one off? Iíve never had much interest in jazz, but Jamieís music combines jazz and pop in a way that makes it oh so interesting. Now I can even hear jazz standards without finding them boring - at least as long as Jamieís doing them! This was the first of three Jamie shows I saw in 2004. Come back to San Francisco Jamie! We love you!
